Thursday Tracks:::Andrew Bird

One of my favorite bloggers, Katie, does a weekly feature called Music Monday. I decided to start my own version called "Thursday Tracks!" So let me know what you think:)
So most of you probably know of my love for Andrew Bird. I first heard this man after my high school graduation rehersal when my friend played a song by him while I was in his car (after a vicious search for Fresca...obviously). He introduced him by saying "This guy is an amazing whistler!" And he really is. But Andrew Bird's talent goes beyond whistling. He is an incredible lyricist, musician, singer, you name it.
But apparently, me talking about him will just bore people, so you listen for yourself:)

Enjoy!

An Apology, An Explanation, and A Concert.

So yes, I have been away for quite a long time. I apoplogize for that, but I can explain! So my computer has been down. I have the Best Buy Geek Squad Black Tie Protection Program (I had to push that stupid title for a few too many months!) on it, but apparently, it is due to a bad hard drive, and it would cost $130 for them to back it all up. I can just get an external hard drive for nearly half that, but getting that $70 (or rather, saving it) is rather hard with my current paycheck, so I still haven't gotten one yet! Blogging without a computer of your own is rather hard, and I'm currently typing this up on a TINY netbook. But I'm trying!
Anyway, last night, I went with Sarah Huff and Michelle Mitev to see Eisley! What a great show! They are all so sweet and talented. And on top of that, cute! Four of the five members are siblings (the fifth is a cousin). And to make it sweeter, their younger sister, Christie, opened up with their brother, Colin. And to top it all off, their dad is their manager! Seriously.
Christie and Colin were really great! We talked to Christie a bit after the show, and she was really nice and down to earth. Here's a video of her. You can't really see Colin, but I will tell you he pulls off suspenders really well!

The next band was The Lion and the Sail. They were good as well, you just couldn't hear much vocals. The guitarist did look like Jon Steudeman, though!

And lastly, there was Eisley! They were so great! Seriously, I went in liking them and came out rather smitten!

For starters, they had a great sound. You can tell that they don't alter too much with technology. They stayed consistent with their album sound.

They also stayed entertaining. They chatted with the audience and were down to earth. They talked about their new iPhones a little bit, and you could constantly see the drummer in the corner breaking his out, taking videos of his cousin. That was great in and of itself. He would random signal his cousin playing the bass to look over and would point to the phone, hidden by his foot or cymbal, and just smile. His cousin just shook his head and made goofy faces towards it.

They handled things well. Halfway through, this horrible screech came through the monitors and sounded for at least thirty seconds. At least. They stopped playing after about five and held their ears, then started laughing a bunch. "This is a sign that we should never play that song again," one of them said. They continuously joked about it throughout the night and carried on. But they were never rude about it.

They were adorable. The previously mentioned drummer, Weston (as I just found out), wore suspenders as well. Sherri, one of two guitarists, wore the cutest green dress, which she referred to as her "Peter Pan" dress. And as they went off stage, they thanked everyone for coming. They walked through and told people that along their way. Seriously, they are so sweet!

If you haven't listened to them, check them out!

They really are great people! Please enjoy and sorry again for the hiatus!

Some more lovin'

My mind is off thinking of some lovely things! Allow me to share:)

1) This dress, found on Anthropologie. Honestly...what's not amazing about it (disregarding price, of course!)

2) This magical room! I'm thinking of doing it when I switch rooms. It would be wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to!

3) This girl! Amanda and I hung out tonight and got thoroughly creeped out by The Lovely Bones. It was rather fun (and much needed:)

4) This great band. Jason Schwartzman is rather fantastic by all regards!

5) Umm...how great (and positively dorky) is this tattoo? If only I didn't swear off all ink:)

6) Who is up for a sheet fort night? Seriously. How could that not be a great thing?!

Well, that's all for tonight! Sweet dreams!

Oh Betty Draper

So today i realized that Mad Men+Spring+a love of dresses=bad thing.
Why, you may ask?
Because every time Betty Draper comes on the screen, all I can focus on is her fabulous dresses! She has some of the prettiest floral dresses I have ever seen! It makes me wish I could have lived in the sixties! [sigh]

and of course you can't forget about the Betty Draper Barbie!

Perhaps I need a knock-off?

I know I promised an Etsy today, and it has been started, but before i post things, I need to figure a few more thins out. Shall we shoot for five listed items by next Saturday?

Yes, I suppose we shall!
Goodnight! xoxo

ETSY DAY!!!

So today shall be the day I start my Etsy! Yay! Here comes Little Miss Sassafras!
Here's a peek at a few bows that will be on there!

And some past bows

And a glimpse of my week!

Bryce and i went to a Cardinals game on Wednesday! We did this thing where you go to the Stadium at 9:00 the morning of the game and wait in line for a voucher. The tickets are only $5.50, but the seats could be anywhere from standing room only to front row first base seats. This is the view from ours. I'd have to say we did pretty well:)

I went with Bryce's family to Crown Candy last night and got a strawberry malt. Rather sweet! This is a little less than 1/4 of the entire malt. See the silver things behind it? The malt comes out in that, and you pour it yourself. They have a challenge where you can try to drink five whole ones in a half an hour for some free malts. The guy from Man vs. Food tried it and lost about four in. I couldn't even finish half of one! The only thing i lost out on, however, was a veggie burger. Had I done the whole thing, Bryce said he would put one on the menu for his restaurant someday...too bad!

Oh, and remember that thing protruding from Jon's face (also known as a beard)? Well, i was there as he shaved it off at 12:00 AM. Say so long!

I will post later when the Etsy is up! Until then, enjoy this wonderful song from Cake!

Tennis, anyone?

Pretty big fan of this star-studded video, featuring Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil' Jon, and some other person I don't really know. Plus the song is great! Gotta love Vampire Weekend!

Kids Are Silly

I helped Miss Renee put together the graduation books at work today (I work at a daycare:). They amused me a lot. I thought I'd share some of the pictures that made me smile!

Oscar's. He is a tad bit spacey...all of the time. I like the whole "everyone is trying to get the shiny thing." Nice touch!

Oscar's future occupation: "Man Walking Down the Steps With Parrot." Wonder if that pays well:)

Erika's. Her mother is currently pregnant with another girl. Can't you tell?

Ethan's buddies. Notice they are all carrying guns. What are those vehicles on either side? Ambulances. Yup. So THIS is what we teach the kids!
Brenna's mom and sister both have very curly hair. I just thought this was sweet!

Basically I love these kids so much! I poked a little bit of fun here at the pictures, but truth be told, I have so many pictures from them because I simply can't throw them away! And graduation? I think I will definitely cry at this ceremony! I've known most of these kids since they were two, maybe three. This is just insane! AHHHH!!!

Oh, and speaking of kids, anybody else see this video? I have nothing against MGMT as a band, but this video is rather twisted...John Watson himself may have been the director.

On the bright side, this video does contain Joanna Newsom. She seems like a terrible mother to me...no offense. Oh, and please don't hold one part of the cartoon against me! I'm not really endorsing this, I just wanted your opinions on it!
